NL75. 75th Anniversary of Normandy Landings 6th June 1944

Every five years the annual commemorations step up a level. 2019 is expected to be no different. Preliminary planning is underway with assitance from Mike Morgan, RNVR YC and Gale Bryan RNSA East Coast Branch. 2019 marks the 75th Anniversary of the D Day landings on 6th June 1944 in Normandy. Every five years RNSA & RNVR YC members have gathered in Ouistreham.

Exercise to update, verify and increase the number of Honorary Port Officers has started. Members help to verify entries is requested and volunteers to increase the number of ports requested. Member’s assistance is requested. A number of our web site HPO entries are incorrect. There is no apparent process in place to check and verify entries.

Part cloud, part sun and a nice south westerly breeze that had a few light patches in it to keep competitors on their toes. Perfect conditions to open the Autumn series. Tinker T took charge of Race 1 as SOOD and set a longish windward / leeward course of a beat across the east going tide to Quarr off Wooton Creek and a run with the tide back home.
