RNSA(P) Wednesday Autumn Series race 4

Wow! The light and shifty northerlies may not have been exactly what the Autumn Series fleet wanted to sail in but the wonderful sunset presented on the inbound leg showed that natural occurrences can still be hugely impressive. Tinker T took on the task of setting a course in the 5-8 knot north easterly forecast to ease still more during the race period.

Winter Layup

Hi cruiser owners, as you know the cruising season is coming to a close. Only a few weeks left before recovery, so if you have any special requests regarding either being in a position to take down your mast, or requesting a last day recovery so as to launch early next season before the organised launch date, could please make sure you email the Bosun asap so this is sorted early.

Any boats wishing to come ashore in the month early period could you also let the Bosun know (in good time) before hand with a date of lift and tractor drivers name please.

Many thanks,

Myles Semmens

Working Party

We will be holding a working party on 6th October starting at 10am. There will be a number of jobs ranging From weeding to shed building. These jobs will be allocated on a first come first served basis. All I ask is that if you feel confident to take on some of the more technical jobs, you do so. Could members who intend to help out, bring down gardening gloves and any tools they feel might be of use. A confirmed job list will be circulated nearer the time. Any work you do undertake will count towards your club maintenance hours. Even if you have done your quota, any help will be greatly appreciated as this will be of benefit to all members. On the day there will also be lunch available from the galley. A confirmed lunch menu will be circulated at a later date.

If you are requiring more information then please don’t hesitate to drop me an email.

Compound Reorganisation

The winter cruiser recovery is scheduled for the weekend of 20/21st October by which time the lay up area needs to be entirely clear of summer dinghies. I therefore propose to reorganise the compound two weeks before on Saturday 6th October (I’m away the weekend of 13th). Anyone with a summer only space planning to use their boat over the subsequent two weeks may do so provided their boat is removed by Friday October 19th.

Before the reorganisation weekend would you please:

  • Ensure that your boat is clearly labelled with your name, contact details and LHB sticker number. There are many unlabelled boats which makes it very difficult to know which boats are in the correct place and chase any late payers.
  • Ensure that the boat is moveable – that the trolley is in working order with the tyres pumped up and any locks are left open (or that you are available on the day).

We currently have a winter waiting list of 21 boats. There are plans to create a rack that would enable the toppers to be stacked and release some ground but this will not enable everyone to be accommodated. If you are able to take your boat home for the winter please consider doing so to free up the space for someone without that opportunity.

As many volunteers will be welcome as possible on reorganisation weekend – please drop me an email to confirm your attendance.

Many thanks,

Pete Burke
