Friday Speaker & Cheese and Wine
Friday is a cheese & wine evening with guest speaker, Dr Watson, marine zoology lecturer at University of Portsmouth. The talk will start around 8pm when you can learn more about local marine biology and research. This will be different to the HIWWT talk.
Bring a cheese or two, the more unusual, the better. And an accompaniment such as crackers, chutney or grapes. Wine or your tipple of choice will be available from the bar.

Bar and Galley Duties Allocation for 2019
Dear Fellow Tudors,
I am writing to you all to explain a change to the way Bar and Galley duties will be allocated from now on. The reason for the change is to ensure that the Bar and Galley are staffed and open as often as possible. Thus allowing us all to enjoy the fantastic social events and the great club that we all belong to.
The change is that this duty year we will allocate you all your duties rather than wait for volunteers to fill the slots.
We will allocate your duties roughly based on what you did last year.
Can I please ask if you do not intend to make the Bar or Galley your choice for maintenance this year that you e mail: barmanager or socialsec to let us know.
If we don’t here we will assume that all is dandy and allocate you a duty.
Can I please ask that if you know you have dates you cant do please let us have those dates by 28th January 2019 the latest. We will arrange your duties accordingly.
PLEASE help us to make your club a warm and friendly place to be by answering this e mail so we can keep the Bar & Galley open.
If you would like to discuss anything regarding the Bar or Galley get in touch and we can have a chat.
Thank you in advance.

Paid Bar Functions
Happy New Year. I hope you have a great festive break.
I am writing to ask if anyone would like to cover the bar at private functions in the coming year. I am trying to compile a list of members who I can contact when bar staff are needed.
You will receive £40.00 cash per shift.
The shift will usually comprise of serving drinks, clearing away the glasses at the end of the function and locking up the club. There is usually a minimum of two staff per function depending on numbers.
The times vary but a typical shift is Saturday night 19.30 leaving at 00.01.
If you are interested please e mail me.
If you have any questions please just ask.

Bring and Buy Event
On Friday 1st March there is a bring/buy/swap event.
Lots of boat owners have bits they bought and did not use. Bring any items that you do not want and that others may need. Sell them or swap them for things you do want
To be held in the clubhouse, Friday evening and the bar will be open (for you to spend your ill gotten gains).
Any items too big can be described on paper.

Followup to my Clipper Race presentation
It was nice to have a full club on Friday night for my presentation – many thanks to everyone who came along. Whether you came or not, here is a link which might be interesting for people to watch. It is not a Clipper official video but is a programme put together by one of the videographers who was on board various boats for various legs. It is her inside view of being a part of the race from the perspective of a sub-contracted film maker. It’s a fascinating insight into life on board which you don’t necessarily see normally and there are lots of great shots of the sea state and weather conditions!
