RNSA(P) Wednesday Summer Series race 9

The Windguru forecast from the Spitbank Fort website did not bode well for the final race of the summer series. 1800 - 6 knots from the west, backing southwest and decreasing to 2 knots then going southeast at 3 knots. It was pretty much spot on! As Tinker T the SOOD sailed at 1715 there was a delightful SW breeze of 11 knots but on arrival at Gilkicker the flat nature of the Solent to the west of the point indicated the worst.

Dolphin Pool Marina

Dolphin Pool Marina I have one berth available in Dolphin Marina for a 6m (20FT) boat. If anyone would like it please contact Gemma in the RNSA office by email on moorings@rnsa.org.uk. It will be first come, first served.

Ebb & Flow

Your club magazine needs your contributions please. Let us know how your summer season is progressing out on the water – whether its sailing, rowing, canoeing, kayaking. Successes, failures, what lessons can you pass on to other club members? Whether racing, cruising or just pottering about on the water, let us know and help generate interest in club activities. Share your sailing experiences and plans with the rest of us. Anything on water-based activities is welcome and we’d also like to hear from cadets and new members as well.

Please send your contributions to Richard Curtis at ebbnflow

NL75 – A Personal Journey

Mark Heane, one of our members travelled to Normandy for the commemorations of 75th anniversary of D-Day. This is a short summary of his trip out. Saturday at 2230 hrs, I departed Chatham maritime Marina, bound for Oustreham in France, on Fidelio, my 29 foot Seamaster yacht. A good friend, David McMillan, a very experienced seaman and sail training ship instructor joined me as crew.
