Friendly Friday Food – 9th August
Naomi is galley chef for dinner on Friday 9 August. She’ll be cooking spaghetti bolognese / vegetable bolognese with garlic bread and salad. £5 per portion. Please order on Webcollect. There will be a small number of portions available on the night for those who haven’t pre-booked, including for those feeling peckish after the sunset and gales races. If you want to sail then eat it would be helpful if you let Naomi know before you go out on the water so she can save a portion for you.
If anyone is available to assist Naomi in the kitchen, please volunteer on DutyMan.
Tudor SC Anniversary Regatta and Beer Festival
Saturday 31st August 1300 to 1800, BBQ and Music – see attached poster for details.

Race officers required
In order for the club to conduct a full and active race calendar throughout the year, we require volunteer race officers to help facilitate the events. Unfortunately we currently have a small number of trained race officers who manage all of the races and the club would benefit from having more.
Any club members who are interested in learning more about the rules of dinghy and cruiser racing and would also like to use their duty hours whilst gaining experience and knowledge, can I ask them to go to sailing_committee .
Thank you

Rowing News
Club use of the Gigs has remained high through the summer so far, and we’re seeing Olive out more and more regularly. She has had a slight modification to allow her to be rowed by four rowers rather than the usual three which is reported to be working very well. We now also have a regular ladies team, who I believe will be representing the club at the Boatyard Sheave race later this month.
We’re getting a good take-up, too, on the novice taster sessions, particularly on Saturday mornings – last Saturday, for example, Freedom and Rosie were out early for a jolly down to the Coffee Cup on the seafront, then back to the club by 10:00 at which time Olive was afloat for a Padnell Paddlers outing, and at the same time both Rosie and Freedom were in use giving new rowers a feel for the sport. Get in touch and come down and give it a try.
In an effort to interest more club members who perhaps haven’t thought of trying rowing, we are proposing bringing a couple of indoor rowers down to the club one Friendly Friday (perhaps the 16th August) to get the competitive juices flowing, with the Gigs available to try out afterwards. Watch this space for updates.
The Gigs are also perfect boats for picnics on the sands, being stable, easy to row and having lots of space for a family and picnic, so don’t think necessarily of the annual Boat Race, but also of languid outings with Pimms and parasols ……. it’s what the summers are for!
