Your Club Needs Your Help

Following the Nomination Meeting, we have the following committee vacancies:

  • Social Secretary
  • Maintenance Officer
  • Assistant Bosun (one short)
  • Social Committee (three short)

These posts are all elected at the AGM in January. Please let me know if you are interested in standing for any of them.

Mark Tranter also wishes to step down as Bar Manager, having done a great job since stepping in last year, so we need to appoint a new Bar Manager. The Job Description for this post is attached to this Tidal Diamond. This post is appointed by the Executive Committee, so please let me know if you are interested.

We are also short of a Cruiser Captain, to plan the club cruises for the next year, this post is elected by the Cruiser Owners, please let me know if you are interested and I will pass it on to the Sailing Committee.

Please note that all of these posts fulfil your complete Club Duty requirement.

Without a Bar Manager, Social Secretary and the rest of the Social Committee, there will be very few Social events next year and no Bar!

Without a Cruiser Captain, there will be no organised club cruiser cruises.

The Maintenance Officer is also very important to organise maintenance for the club, especially with the sea defence works next year.

Sea Survival Course

Sunday January 12th 2020

As we hang up our sea boots for another season I’ve been pondering ways to keep the spirit alive through the long winter.

What better way to spend a January Sunday than learning about personal locator beacons and climbing into an upturned offered in full wet weather gear?

The RYA sea survival course is a must for anyone sailing offshore if only to remind you to keep your boat afloat!

I’ve managed to negotiate a discounted rate of £100 – £105 depending on numbers from Andark in Swanwick near Southampton for Sunday January 12th 2020. Their courses normally start about 0900 and finish late afternoon. They have a first class indoor deep pool facility where I learned to scuba dive.

Please let me know if you are interested, even as a maybe. I’m going to get the numbers together and confirm the booking by the end of the month. It’s first confirmed, first served.
