Delay in Issuing Club Calendar

I understand that some members have been concerned about the delay in putting the club calendar on to the website.

The calendar was prepared assuming that the Sea Defence work would start as expected in April, however, the start time of the Sea Defences has been uncertain for several weeks now and we do not want to issue the calendar and then have to change it again, as this is likely to cause confusion.

We expect that the start date will be finalised very shortly and the calendar can be issued soon after that, in the meantime, please bear with us.

Sailing Update

The sailing Committee are pleased to announce that the presentation evening for the 2019 trophies will be held on the evening of Friday 27th March. All club members are invited to join in with the celebrations and join us in the club house to share a drink and catch up with all the other club members and help make the evening something special.

The sailing committee is also on the lookout for an enthusiastic cruiser sailor who is planning to be active throughout 2020 and hates sailing alone, it is after all a social sport. If this sounds like you, would you consider taking on the vital club role of Cruiser Captain?

The role means that you are not required to carryout extra duty hours, as your time on the committee will take this into account. You will be required to attend one meeting a month at the club house, normally the first Monday of the month. Where you will take an interest in the other vessels in the club so that you can, with the support of the other committee members, plan, publicise and deliver the up and coming events, races and trips throughout the year for other club members to enjoy. You will also be able to offer guidance on where people can get information and advice about sailing and mooring maintenance. But don’t worry, you don’t need to know everything as there is a wealth of knowledge in the club that you can guide people towards.

If you are interested and have any questions please contact either Richard Deacon (sailingsec) or Richard Gunn (commodore) and we will be happy to talk it through with you.

Rowing Trophy

Hi all Tudor members,

The ECA have purchased another Pilot gig and last Sunday they held a reception to honour the occasion, Tudor members were invited and Sandy Craig, Audrey and I went along to “Look at their new toy”. However another totally unexpected and overwhelming highlight of this event was when they presented the Tudor club with a specially produced, one off Glass Trophy to honour us for winning their 9 mile “Cockleshell Challenge Fort Race” for 3 years in a row from its inception in 2017. Each year we have to return the original trophy and they are working hard to ensure we won`t take it this year… we shall see! It so happens that it has been the same Tudor team on each winning occasion consisting of John Elson, Ian DuCane, Sandy Craig and our ace Cox Jay DuCane. The trophy will shortly be on permanent display in the club cabinet.
