Rowing Section News
As all will have seen via the exec circulars and updates, the two club rowing gigs, Rosie and Olive, are now available for general use and can be booked through the club booking system. For the days prior to this, private boats within the club, Navigator, Freedom and Trypp Hazard, were able to be used as long as the club guidelines were adhered to.
Now that we’ve had a week or so to get used to it, and to see the practicalities (or otherwise) of using the boats whilst maintaining a safe environment, I delighted to say that Rowing is Back and everyone is welcome.
For regular rowers who are on the WhatsApp group, they’ll be aware that the programme is now alive and well again. For non-regular rowers or new rowers who want to get out on the water (beached cruiser owners / dinghy sailors more than welcome!) please get in touch with me and get included in the WhatsApp group so you can join in….. and work off some of the lock-down excesses.
Even in adversity there are some benefits – with the gigs being restricted to two rowers each due to social distancing rules, this means that more boats are out on the water, which can actually enhance the (non-competitive, obviously) morning or afternoon outing. During this first week of the relaxed rules we are regularly getting three and even four boats on the water at any one time.
So there is no better time to consider at least giving rowing a try – get in touch.

Waiting for the Tide
With the opening of non essential shops and general easing of lock down I haven’t put together a new puzzle this week – although don’t worry I have attached the answers to last week’s one. If you are still finding time to do them and would like more, do let me know – ideas and contributed puzzles welcome too. If restrictions end up being tightened again at some point I will need time to come up with some new ideas!
As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address if you feeling isolated and cut off from the world. It is always nice to hear from members, and any ideas of things to do would be most welcome.
Two items to round off with:
- I have had an email from a member about custom 3D printed trolley tags for sail numbers, or I guess other text. They are produced by a friends son, so if you are interested see the attached advert.
- For those who aren’t on the Tudor Facebook group, I thought I’d add a link (third time lucky) to a time lapse video I put together of one of this year’s ‘slow launches’. It was created by grabbing the output of the webcam every minute from shortly after I was put down the slip (something to do while waiting for the tide) until the last boat was clear. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOkgD0yXUdY
Stay safe.

Useful Links
I thought it worth continuing to include a few useful links here as a handy place to find them if you haven’t already got them bookmarked:
It is probably also worth noting:
