Return of Racing

This Saturday we are planning to resume dinghy racing with a short summer series. Broad details have been shared with you with the document Tudor Sailing Club – Restarting Dinghy Racing.

Volunteers are still required to help throughout the series.

One of the key approaches is for us to adopt the SailEvent software package to provide an online sign-on facility for the races.

This will allow you to :

  1. Register as a potential participant once for all the races in the series.
  2. Please Register for an account and you will then be prompted a short period before each race by email to confirm whether you actually wish to take part in that race.
  3. Shortly after the race has completed you will again be asked to confirm you have finished.

Using this package will remove one of the identified key “covid pinch points” helping us to restart racing. It will also give us better visibility of who is intending racing and also some additional race management / safety facilities.

Don’t forget:

  1. The showers and changing rooms are not to be used – come “sail ready”
  2. Minimise time on the slipway
  3. Observe hygiene requirements
  4. Stay Safe

Detailed instructions for racers can be found here: http://www.tudorsailing.org.uk/TudorSailing/05_sailing/documents/upload/sailevent%20-%20racer.pdf

Dutyman for Summer Series

Dutyman was updated with the new duties last Tuesday 21st and instructed to send emails, I believe however that not all email were sent. We have had some volunteers (thank you) but still have duties available, including a Patrol boat helm for this Saturday. So I would ask that you login to Dutyman and volunteer for a duty if you are able.

Waiting for the Tide

With racing carefully coming back some members may be interested in the new RYA Dinghy Racing channel on YouTube that covers things “from improving your race strategy to racing top tips”. You can find it at https://www.youtube.com/c/dinghyracingchannel/.

As ever, feel free to drop me an email at this address if you feeling isolated and cut off from the world. It is always nice to hear from members, and any ideas of things to include in the Tidal Diamonds would be most welcome.

Stay safe.
