There are no entry fees, qualifications etc – just have a read of the sailing instructions and turn up (or you could do it the other way round, but you’ll need to read fast!).

The classic keel boat is a day racer for the connoisseur yachtsman; designed by Alfred Westmacott, the Sunbeam is regarded by many as his masterpiece. The design was commissioned in 1992 to form a new class on the River Hamble, the first headquarters of the Solent Sunbeams where it was ruled that all boat names should end with a ‘Y’.
