COSMIC DANCER wins the Atlantic Cup

The Sweden 38 may have been the smallest and oldest yacht in the Atlantic Cup, and the only crew to be competing 2 handed, but there are times when "small is beautiful". With all but one of the other competing yachts in the 40-50 ft range, taking line honours was never a realistic aspiration, but when the final results were announced Clive Woodman was delighted to discover that Cosmic Dancer had won by over 11 and a half hours on corrected time.

The Mayor & Mayoress of Gosport attended the clubhouse, and presented Rear Commodore Sailing (Gordon) with the trophy. A photo and history of the trophy now resides in our clubhouse.

Unfortunately we are unable to keep the actual cup which is dated 1829 on our premises, as it is solid gold and is
