Women on the Water – Thursday 21st June
Just a reminder about the next WOW session which is taking place this week. Everyone welcome regardless of ability, all you need is fun attitude.
The next session is on Thursday 21st June where we have planned to go out gig rowing and kayaking, the ladies race is this Sunday so it is an opportunity for you all to get out on the water in a sailing dinghy to have a practice before the race.
If you don’t want to go rowing / kayaking then feel free to come along and go on the water in whichever way takes your fancy.
If there are any lady patrol boat helms and crews that would like to launch marlin for the session please let me know.
Activities
- Thursday 21st June – gig is booked
- Thursday 5th July – Stand up paddle boarding (confirmed) donation to ASSF optional. – Need to know numbers in advance
- Thursday 19th July – RIB driving (TBC) I need a second Tudor PB2 helm to assist for the evening.

Calling all Tudor Ladies!
Sunday 24th June – 10am is the Ladies Tray.
It would be great to see as many Tudor women as possible on the water racing for the prestigious Ladies Tray. At the time of writing all the club boats are available to be booked for the race.

Congratulations to the Rowing Section.
Congratulations to all our Tudor SC Rowers. Over the last couple of weeks, they have excelled themselves in the Cockleshell challlenge, the Hamble River Race and the Chichester Harbour Race. Teams were entered in both Junior and senior categories.
Inspired? Drop Sandy (rowing@tudorsailing.org.uk) a line to join one of the informal rowing sessions or to find out more about getting afloat in the gig.

Why not tell Ebb & Flow about how your summer sailing is progressing. Whether you’ve been racing, cruising or just pottering about on the water, don’t be shy! Share your sailing stories, thoughts, suggestions, poems and songs with the rest of us. We need your input to make the next Ebb and Flow interesting so please get in touch – anything sailing or (even vaguely) sailing-related is welcome. Cadets and new members are encouraged to contribute as well as those who are in for the long haul!

Tudor Sailing Club – Rowing Section Well Done 1,2,3
Well Done 1
Saturday 16th June ”Rosie” crewed by our cadet rowing team – Rowers Ella Williams, Jay Ducane, Danni Francis and coxed by Ian Ducane were at the River Hamble Games. Their race was from the Hamble Pink Ferry up river 3 miles returning to the finish line at the Ferry pontoon. The weather conditions were harsh – wet, windy and against tide on the return leg. This was a punishing course for the cadets but they endured to come second in their class and were worthy of their silver medals.
Well Done 2
Danni Francis took Gold medal in the fixed wheel cycle (spinning) event.
Well Done 3
Sunday 17th June – “Rosie“ crewed by rowers John Elson, Ian Ducane, Sandy Craig and coxed by Ella Williams were at Hayling for the round Hayling Island rowing race. Weather conditions were against us for the second year running and meant that it was unsafe to venture outside the harbour. A shorter course of 8.2nm was set in Chichester harbour. We had high cold winds, heavy water and the tide against us. It was CHALLENGING. We returned in 7th place behind six oared, Jurassic League Cornish pilot gigs but ahead of 13 other four and six oared Gigs and skiffs. We were again winners of the fastest Burseldon Gig and took the veterans +50 trophy. Well done to Ella for her navigation skills in challenging weather conditions.

A big thank you to all at the Hamble and Langstone Cutters for their events. Great hospitality, encouraging and complimentary comments.
A very big thank you to all family and friends who came to give support the rowers over this very challenging weekend.
